This Apprenticeship is a funded position inviting applicants from the Merthyr area. WMC is a home for the arts in Wales, and a cauldron of creativity for the nation. We fire imaginations by curating world-class, critically acclaimed touring productions, from musical theatre and comedy to dance, cabaret and an international festival. We kindle emerging talents with fresh, provocative, and popular pieces of our own, rooted in Welsh culture. And we ignite a passion for the arts in young people with life-changing learning experiences and chances to shine in the spotlight.

We’re now excited to offer a new apprenticeship within our Arts & Engagement Department supporting the Community Engagement, Productions, Creative Technology and Storytelling, Platfform and Llais teams on our diverse range of Projects and Productions that provide opportunities for artists, young people and communities to create wonderful experiences.

Joining us as an apprentice means becoming part of a skilled and supportive team while developing the practical experience and confidence needed for a successful career in finance.

 

About the Role and Responsibilities:

  • The primary aim of this apprenticeship is to help you build both specialised and transferable skills through hands on, work-based learning in the heart of a large charitable organisation. You will gain practical experience across key areas with the chance to explore additional departments. This breadth of exposure ensures you develop a well-rounded understanding of Business Administration to support your studies.
  •  Throughout your working week, you will complete coursework, assessments, and structured training modules required to achieve your Level 2 or 3 qualification. In addition to formal training, you will gain practical experience on a variety of processes and projects within Wales Millennium Centre.
  •  By the end of the programme, you will have developed a strong foundation in business administration, including office administration, finance, health & safety and project planning and delivery providing you with a set of professional qualifications that support your next steps. and a set of professional qualifications that will support your next steps.

 

Key Requirements:

The working hours for this apprenticeship are 35 hours per week.

*Applicants will need to be available to start on October 5th for Induction Week.

*Applicants who hold a degree are NOT eligible.

The criteria used to assess applicants is intentionally flexible, as we recognise that people come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. However, we do expect you to demonstrate a passion for the arts and/or charity and to explain why a role at Wales Millennium Centre appeals to you. You will also need to show that you can learn effectively and communicate well with others. As part of a large organisation, you will be working alongside people with diverse backgrounds, viewpoints, and identities, so strong interpersonal skills are essential.

We are looking for individuals who can show a positive attitude towards professional working, a willingness to learn new skills, and commitment to progressing through the required coursework. Enthusiasm, reliability, and a genuine interest in finance will be key to your success in this role.
